It sure was good to get back out there after such a long layoff.  It was interesting to learn what had been going on during the forced inactivity and it was evident that Zwift had played a big part in some riders lives.  Peter set out a good old fashioned XC course with climbs and descents to accommodate all facets of the sport.

Riders from Nelson dominated in a few of the classes including overall male and female. Seamus just held on to be first male and Susie first female while Caleb took out the under 17 class.

There were some very impressive efforts by locals though, close on Seamus's wheel was 13 year old Finn finishing just 6 seconds adrift.  It was an exciting finish with both riders crossing the line sideways in speedway style. In third overall Jack overcame a start line mechanical to put in a solid effort after a drop-off in training intensity.  I am sure he will be back. Prize for the biggest grin of the day goes to Mark in the E-Bike class, it will take a couple of days for him to come down from that ride, he was pumped. Ian was more sedate in taking out the 50 plus class ahead of Ash in the 30 - 39 class. There were eleven women on the start line, Emma took out the 30-39 class, Maddy was successful in the under 15's and Alana continued her dominance in the more mature class.

I mentioned the spectacular finishing of Seamus and Finn but there were other crowd pleasers in Susie and Gary vying for house honours with sideways finishes but the gold medal goes to Muffin with a wheelie the length of the sprint area and wheels at all angles across the line.  Great entertainment.
