sharlands is open for nmtbc members

Under Level 3, as of  THURSDAY 2 SEPTEMBER Sharlands is open!

NMTBC Members will be able to mountain bike in Sharlands under Level 3 protocols.  This is a privilege for NMTBC members only.  Please don’t blow it or we will be told to close trails like they have in Queenstown (and you will have Auntie Mel to answer to!)

There are a couple of extra things to note for Sharlands:

  1. Please wear your riding gloves when touching any surfaces – specifically at the entry gate to Sharlands.
  2. Note that there are still trees down across Sharlands Road which will affect access to some Ambulance Pick Up locations (but you shouldn’t need these right????)
  3. While the trails have been checked, please ride all trails with caution.  It should be noted that there is a big tree down on Aorere near the bottom after you cross Chings Highway.

So, just to re-iterate the rules:

Ride Safe – only ride on familiar trails WITHIN your level of expertise, taking care not to be injured and require medical attention.  Forget Strava – this is a time to take in the Spring sunshine and smell the roses.

Ride Local – only ride trails that are close to you.  Ideally, you should not have to drive to your ride.

Ride Solo – or within your bubble.  You must maintain physical distancing (two meters) with people outside your bubble.  There can be no congregating.  You must leave as soon as you have finished your recreation activity.

See you out there!
