LAND OWNER: GRIFFIN FAMILY

Silvan Forest is a privately owned 180ha forest, made accessible for recreational use by its generous owners, Rick and Sarah Griffin and family. The MTB Trails Trust in partnership with the Griffin family developed the first 20km phase trail network in the forest between 2014-2017, effectively linking the end of Champion Road with Tasman District Council’s Kingsland Forest to the west, and the forest road network linking Marsden Valley to the east.

Post pine harvest in 2018/2019, the Griffin family are managing the second phase of trail development and management directly, with a kanuka based replanting plan ready to go, helping to secure enduring future recreational
