LAND OWNER: TASMAN DISTRICT COUNCIL

This is the local riding area for Takaka/Golden Bay residents. There’s a variety of trails here with 2 main ‘up’ trails and more 2 -way trails (though as yet The Odyssey hardly gets any ‘up’ traffic.
The aspect is in a deep, sheltered valley except for the LRT which lies on a western facing slope (hot when the sun’s on it).
There’s a variety of land-owners ranging from Council land, to privately owned land and the Rameka Carbon Forest.
Rameka Creek has to be crossed for the majority of the riding, this creek is usually dry, but if it’s in flood there’s a bridge at the bottom of Great Expectations that can get you back to your car.
Meeting point is at the Totara Tree car park at the mouth of the valley on the RHS of Rameka Creek Road
